    History

    Sun Yat-sen Business School (SYSBU) has a long-lasting tradition of education in the fields of arts, sciences, medicine, and engineering and is one of the nations 10 most prestigious schools in China. The school consists of six departments in:

    • Business Administration
    • Accounting
    • Marketing
    • Tourism and Hotel Management
    • Finance and Investment
    • Management Science

    The business school has approximately 1,700 undergraduates and 200 master-level graduate students, and over 200 PhD students. They are determined to build a reputation as the premier business school in China and Asia through a reputation of academic excellence, internalization, quality of programs, diversity, and contributions to society. Since 2000, SYSBU has created collaborative programs with over 80 different schools internationally.  Some of these schools are:

    The business school also has a very published faculty, with over 760 research papers, 57 books and 35 major awards in the past three years. SYSBU’s strategy is to always strive to exceed their reputation and deliver every promise to the stakeholders of their business by developing and maintaining business education and research platforms, offering professional programs, engaging with their business partners, and empowering students to achieve their academic goals.

    Courses

    The MBA Program of SYSBU was launched in 1998 and aims to help guide entrepreneurs with the business school’s global thinking, strategic vision and managerial talents who are constantly adopting to global change and competition. The program is designed to deliver students that essential knowledge necessary in their chosen MBA path.  Many different types of MBA’s are offered; the diagram below shows the general features and requirements for each program, provided by SYSBU’s website.

      Students can also choose different elective courses in these six areas to integrate the core knowledge with their particular focus.  The six areas are:

    • Entrepreneurship
    • Investment and Finance
    • Marketing
    • Corporate Finance
    • Multinational Business Management
    • Human Resources Management

    The Executive MBA Program was launched in 2002 and stresses both theory and practice in business.  The programs purpose is to cultivate entrepreneurs with decision-making skills, leadership, and the knowledge to spread Chinese culture throughout business practice.  The program is aimed towards senior professional managers that can adapt to the global competition of the current economy. The program is part-time and classes occur four days a month for two years.  Students should have at least 8 years of professional experience, a distinguished leadership background, and an appropriate undergraduate degree.  Students must also study overseas for 6 credits and completed 47 credits within five years.  In the final semester, students are required to submit a dissertation and defend it. The Executive Development Programs at SYSBU are taught by world-class professors and designed in according to the needs of business organizations and provide students with opportunities to share their experiences.  The programs are specifically tailored to government entities, business bodes and financial institutions.  Here is a list of the programs offered:
