    Boston University’s School of Management (BUSM) was one of the first professional school in the nation to establish themselves as a research institute who addresses non-profit and health-care management.  The business school continues to develop curricula that addresses the emerging needs of the constantly evolving economy and world.  This newer curriculum focuses on what BUSM believes to be the three most rapidly growing sectors of the world economy:

    • Health and Life Sciences
    • Digital Technology
    • Social Enterprise and Sustainability

    BUSM believes that this forward looking orientation will give students an advantage in their careers.  They have also integrated more internationally based cases for students and constantly weave ethics and social responsibility lessons into the the framework of all the programmes.  The training provided at the school is both deep and broad, future-based and focused on the development of knowledge in key areas of the global economy today. BUSM teaches their students to create value, not only for their organisations, but for their communities and the world.  They focus on providing a broader picture of the how an organisation operates and teach functional and industry-specific skills while exploring ethical, global and social responsibilities in managerial decisions.  The business school also emphasizes a collaborative mindset in order to develop students as effective team leaders who understand team dynamics and can utilize each participant’s unique strengths.


    The MBA Programme is offered in two-year, one-year international and professional evening formats and provides students with an interactive learning experience that addresses the dynamics of global business. The Two-year MBA Programme is cohort-based and includes a summer internship. The cohorts are sized at 50 to 55 students who will all take courses, work on assignment and projects and coordinate between classes together.  The curriculum is 64 credits long with 34 of the credits being core courses.  It has a focus on contemporary business perspectives and issues, collaboration, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills.  Case studies and problem-solving activities are also used.  The core courses are:

    International MBA Programme

    The One-year International MBA Programme starts with a summer in Beijing and Shanghai, China and ends in Boston to complete the programme.  It is one year long and begins and ends in May.  International Field Seminars are also incorporated into the programme to give students first-hand experience of working executives and broaden their business perspectives.  The programme has the same curricular structure as the MBA programme.

    Professional Evening MBA Programme

    The Professional Evening MBA Programme is offered at the Boston Campus and North Campus in Chelmsford, Massachusetts and is delivered in a part-time structure.  A cohort-based option is provided where students complete the programme at a scheduled pace and take the first five core courses in sequence with the group.  This option usually takes three years.  The self-paced programme allows students to choose how many courses they take a semester (most take two per semester) and it is recommended that they follow the core course sequence, but are not obligated to. This option usually takes 3.5 to four years.

    Executive MBA Programme

    The Executive MBA Programme is designed for mid-to-senior level managers with ten or more years of professional experience and focuses on a cross-functional understanding of the interdependencies of an organisation’s sectors.  Also, concentrated international modules give the programme a global component and help students understand the many factors that influence business contexts in developing and developed countries. The programme has an accelerated course of study and lasts 18 months.  It begins in December and ends in the following June.  It is comprised of five modules with courses occurring on Fridays and Saturdays, every other week.  Case discussion are at the core of the programme’s curriculum and an integrated team-based assignment in each module is required.  Also, four, week-long residential sessions, including one international session, are required, as well as the completion of a capstone project that requires participants create a business plan.  Below are the topics of each area of study in the programme, provided by BUSM.
