    History

    Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences (ASB) is a one of the four main academic schools of Aarhus University and has over 14,000 full-time students with more than 500 academic staff members.  As one of the largest business schools in Europe, ASB offers research-based programs through internationally recognized academic departments. The strategy of the business school supports Aarhus’s four core activities:  Research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange, and contributing to positioning the school as a leading international research and education institution.

    The business school offers a large amount of world-renowned research centers.  The centers are hosted in the departments of Business Administration, Business Communication, Economics and Business, Law, Political Science and Government, and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.  The business school has a constant focus of improving the impact and quality of research and widening the range of topics researched. Focused talent development is another main area of study at the business school.  It means devoting initiative and resources to attracting and training the greatest talents in the world.  Also, the business school stands by a strategy of exchanging knowledge through participating in conferences, creating research-based executive programs, and organizing meetings for talks about private and public organizations.  ASB also offers students business collaborations and public sector consultancy to assist in the culture of knowledge exchange.

    Courses

    The Full-time MBA Program is a two years and is based around the general business administration curriculum with a focus on Environment, Economics, and Employees.  The program is taught in a multi-cultural context by top-ranking professors and covers the areas of sustainability and crucial business objectives in the field of business administration.  Personal leadership development and world-wide networking is encouraged throughout the program. In the first half of the program, five compulsory courses and a certification project are required based on strategy and business, industrial and structural economy, market relations, financial management, organizational analysis and competence development,.

    The second part of the program consists of three electives and a Master’s thesis.  The primary language of instruction is Danish, but several courses are taught in English.  The curriculum consists of lectures for large groups, seminars for smaller groups, practical lab work, discussions with lecturers and study groups of 3-4 students.  Students must complete 30 credits and an equivalent amount of study hours per semester for the program.

    The Executive MBA Program is a two-year specialized program aimed towards highly experienced managers who wish to improve their qualifications in their field and progress their leadership abilities.  The focus of the program is on professional skills, personal qualities, management competencies and a global mindset for change. The program is part-time and is composed of two international study trips, a theory module covering perspectives on organizational theory, strategic management and international business, work shops, semester projects and personal development.  Below is a diagram of the two-year program provided by Aarhus’s website.

    Although Forbes and US News do not rank MBAs globally, they were included for their impact in the U.S.
