Internet of Things Solutions World Congress returns to Barcelona for second year

World’s premier industrial IoT event to take place from 25-27 October

As the Internet of the Things (IOT) economy and technology continues growing a big event comes again.

The Internet of Things Solutions World Congress (IoTSWC) will return to Barcelona in October for its second year, bringing together the world’s leading authorities and influencers in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The event, organised by Fira Barcelona and taking place at the Gran Via Venue, runs from 25-27 October and will see more than 160 exhibitors, 200 keynote speakers and in excess of 8,000 visitors.

The industrial Internet of Things refers to a network of connected devices that provide data that helps organisations gain more granular insight into performance and automate complex and formerly manual processes. It’s set to transform the global business landscape, with IDC calculating that the market opportunity provided by IIoT will be worth more than $900bn by 2018 to the manufacturing industry alone.

Over the three days, a number of keynote addresses, panel debates and discussions covering six key topic areas – Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy & Utilities, Transportation & Logistics, Innovation & Technology and Business Transformation – will take place at IoTSWC.

Speakers include Derek O’Halloran (Head of IT, World Economic Forum) Michael Raynor (Director, Monitor Deloitte), and Sam George (Director, Azure IoT, Microsoft), as well as dozens of industry leaders and decision-makers from businesses, academic institutions and think-tanks from around the world.

Among the topics up for discussion will be issues such as what the factory of the future looks like – a subject that’s already generated a great deal of speculation. There will also be sessions also examine how robotics and digitalisation can transform manufacturing. Other sessions will look at how smart health devices empower employees and patients whilst improving hospital efficiency as well as how IoT is revolutionising transportation systems.

Companies such as Accenture, Deloitte, EMC, GE, HCL, Intel, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Schneider Electric and Vodafone will be showcasing their latest IIoT innovations and representatives of institutions such as Aalborg University, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be in attendance at IoTSWC.

“Last year the Internet of Things Solutions World Congress saw 4,500 visitors from all over the globe and we are expecting nearly twice as many this time around. We have also increased the number and calibre of keynote speakers, cementing the event’s place as the global leader in industrial IoT conferences,” said Roger Bou Garriga, Director, IoTSWC.

“Attendees will learn how industrial IoT innovations, technologies, standards and the utilisation of data is changing business models and creating service revenue streams that were previously unforeseen,” he continued.

Notes to editors:

IoT Solutions World Congress (IoTSWC) is committed to educating companies and IoT professionals about how to best evaluate and deploy new Industrial IoT opportunities, so they can bolster their ROI. During the three-day program, attendees will hear from end users, deployment experts, standards organisations, government agencies, and industry peers that are realising the potential of the Industrial IoT landscape.

IoTSWC takes place at Fira Barcelona Gran Via Venue from 25-27 October 2016. For more information, please visit: http://www.iotsworldcongress.com
