We would like to share it with you and ask you to make action by joining us for the event on 27th April, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/london-affordable-housing-summit-tickets-24082522473\">you can be part of other 1 million Londoners <\/a>who address the issue to London mayoral candidates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alarming Key Facts on current London Housing market:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Those on an average London salary can&#8217;t afford to buy what are aspirationally described \u00a0as &#8220;affordable&#8221; under the current Mayor&#8217;s administration, at 80% of market value or rent.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">People in London have to\u00a0save \u00a3179,248 for their deposit on an average London property costing \u00a3503,431, \u00a0where average earnings are \u00a0\u00a335,238 a year. A Londoner\u2019s average rent bill is \u00a0\u00a31,500. \u00a0Home ownership is being reduced to stargazing aspiration.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">According to statistics released by the Greater London Authority (GLA) in March only 6,592 affordable homes were completed in the capital in 2013\/14 &#8211; 28% of overall new housing.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">This is the lowest number of affordable homes built in London since 2005\/6 &#8211; when 24% of new homes were affordable.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">The 50,000 homes that have been (or will be) built in each of the Mayor&#8217;s terms doesn&#8217;t take into account low-cost homes that have been demolished or sold off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>London Housing Event &#8211; Policy building forum<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>London South Bank University Keyworth Events Centre will hold on 27th April event on Affordable Housing organised by Uprise Policy Forum and the Open Business Council. The event will comprise of half-day conference that will draw together the stakeholders and citizens to put an London Affordable Homes Plan in place for the next Mayor.<\/p>\n<p>This event will challenge mayoral candidates with their plans for landlords and investors raising various questions like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">Which one is proposing <b>rent controls<\/b>?<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Who wants \u00a0an <b>accredited landlord&#8217;s register<\/b>?<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Is it true that Zach the Conservative candidate wants to <b>stop buy to let<\/b> investment in London?<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Are the Greens going for a land grab?<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">All four main mayoral candidates will present for seven minutes on only their affordable homes and\u00a0sustainability agendas with details of how they will fund these\u00a0plans. These are the issues Londoners want to hear about.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the rest of the day, workshop with leading policy makers, councillors, candidates, landlords, \u00a0investors, academics, leaders in the built environment and citizen stakeholders and let&#8217;s create a policy for London that works for investors and tenants.<\/p>\n<p>Different organisations and group will represent together 1 million Londoners. And these people will endorse the policy plan built on that day and submit it to London\u2019s next mayor to implement.
