In the latest episode of the Finding Your Atom podcast, Valentina Castellani creates a gripping narrative out of her experiences for co-hosts Amrita Sen and Dinis Guarda to throw light on the essence of a crafting process while realising life’s goals.

“Finding Your Atom” is a podcast series with a goal to find the elementary driving energy that blends with empathy and compassion to create a powerful social impact. The series is a brainchild of co-hosts Amrita Sen, artist, designer, and producer, and Dinis Guarda, author, and founder of citiesabc and openbusinesscouncil. Continuing with their ritual of bringing fresh energy to the podcast, they bring Valentina Castellani, (title) to discuss the depths of concepts like modern sainthood and embracing (and overcoming) fear on the path to achieving the goal.

Asked by Amrita about the key drivers that have been responsible for shaping Valentina’s character, she fondly replies that the process of creation is intimate, fragile, and fearsome. But it is these very virtues that paint hope on the canvas of dreams. One should never be afraid to embark on the journey, the first step to the realisation of a goal.

“I do believe that the heart and soul of a storyteller is the fact that you start a journey. Of course, there is some planning, in the sense that you know your goal, you know your arrival. But the journey is never fully planned. It comes to us. Because, if you have your core connected to the final vision, and to your heart, your emotion, your system of being, the journey gets sculpted and crafted day by day. And you have to trust the process.”, she explains.

The Idea Behind Democracy: Amrita Sen And Dinis Guarda Interview Author Dirk Collier In Finding Your Atom Podcast

While the episode grapples the audience with interesting anecdotes shared by Valentina, it did not skip Dinis’ notice that although we live in the most peaceful of times, the world is fighting together with the most difficult situation of pandemics. Valentina assures us that noise is going to be forever, little things would create the things back to salvation.

“Start from the little things, whether it’s the coffee in the morning, a little walk, call your best friend, take a good shower- know that that little thing ignites a better system. And from that little thing, you start again, and be willing to take the time. Pretty much everybody had those days and they can testify that those days were then gone and there were better days.”

Adding further, she says simple gestures help in overcoming the most monstrous of fears. These, Valentina and the hosts, agreed have been the very advanced thoughts that have been prevalent in times immemorial across all the cultures. Features like innate linearity and simplicity are what make their application universal and across the barriers of time.

Emphasising the importance of having a network that not only supports but is also the very reason for keeping one on their path to a goal, Valentina says “As long as the circle is open between the people of a network, that forms the base. And it needs to be respected. If that network is built, and a solid base of openness is created, it will lead to construction, and not the destruction of the project, every chapter of your life.”

Valentina also introduced a unique concept of “Modern Sainthood”. According to her, “I believe that we are all a little bit of a modern saint. We all are human beings, making a million mistakes, but they all have a cause, full of humanity, and have ethics- all human qualities to expand out of ourselves and help others. We do elevate some people, we do inspire them, and we create situations to help others out. Similarly, we surround ourselves with others who protect our vision, elevate us; and in this process, they do carry us”.

With many deeper insights and concepts being discussed in the podcast, the episode promises to take the audience on a journey that is both enduring and interesting.

From the Oscars to Mindfulness: Amrita Sen, Singer-Songwriter, Entrepreneur, and Visual Artist

Artist, performer, musician, entrepreneur, and visual artist Amrita Sen has launched Amrita Sen Music to compose for different subjects such as commercials, feature films, television and live special events.

From the Oscars to Mindfulness: Amrita Sen, Singer-Songwriter, Entrepreneur, and Visual Artist

Amrita Sen is probably best known for her performance at the 2009 Academy Awards with music legend AR Rahman, singing “Jai Ho” from the Oscar-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire. She has also performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Sen is the founder of the Indian-inspired fashion line BollyDoll and an accomplished entrepreneur. She has found composing as an immediate way to connect music to visuals and work in the metaphorical. In her opinion music composition with pictures is very prominent and remains like a combination of music and dialogue. In commercials, the music doesn’t have to be so literal, it just needs to help to represent the emotion of the brand. For composing music, Sen likes to first work out the basics on a harmonium, a type of free-reed pump organ.

Visual artist and musician; Education in music

Sen passed voice and music lessons and was taught classical Indian music and Western opera at a young age. She continued with rigorous training in classical piano, playing the harmonium, and went to India to learn music. In India, Amrita was schooled in the Indian classics from the late Gaan Prakash Ghosh, a celebrated singer, and from her own aunt, the late Geetika Sen. Therefore, she became a composer and performer with a unique sensitivity. She has received degrees from The Wharton School of Business and an MBA from Harvard. Sen’s music has Indian influences but it also has a lot of influences from western classical; because she has trained in piano and western opera. The audience follows her for Indian music but finds her as a very versatile artist. She writes both Indian music and English pop songs. Furthermore, Sen is a well-known entrepreneur, and has launched the successful Amrita Sen line of products including designs from her brands “BollyDoll” and “Cosmic and Eternal Love.” Sen debuted her BollyDoll illustrations at Art Basel in Miami. As a visual artist, she created “BollyDoll”, a live event combining immersive visual worlds with vocal performances spanning East Indian, African and R&B influences. This event of music and art launched an entire fashion and lifestyle brand.

Amrita Sen as a storyteller

As adult colouring books became popular and prevalent, Amrita Sen as a storyteller and visual artist, released an interesting colouring book as a gift collection, called Cosmic and Eternal Love. Sen’s first story BollyDoll” was originally created as a series of illustrations and later evolved into a soundtrack, a live show and eventually a fashion and accessories line that is distributed in department stores worldwide. This amazing book is inspired by the tale of Radha and Krishna from Hindu mythology and contains 15 original compositions. She Chose classic Indian mythology for her newly released colouring book as the idea of a series of illustrations and a girl’s perspective. She is best known for her performance of “Jai Ho” at the 2009 Academy Awards. Sen went on to collaborate with various artists such as Weezer, and Justin Timberlake.  In an interview with Living Out Loud – Los Angeles, she talks about her inspiration behind Cosmic and Eternal Love. At first, she didn’t know much about adult colouring books and the big market for them. Once she decided to start making adult colouring books, she made something, not like other mandala books and have a story behind the pictures. she wanted to have a story from a girl’s perspective because every myth is always from a guy. Sen was involved in numerous projects, so the synchronization of the music and illustrations of Cosmic and Eternal Love took a year to complete.

Amrita’s unique concepts

Wellness, healing and mindfulness are Amrita’s unique concepts in terms of stories from Indian mythology. She tries to present a new attitude about the potential of music to soothe her inner self and does this by taking a representation of the Buddha’s life. Amrita, which is fascinated by the sheer cacophony of pure health and mindfulness concepts, stores excerpts from her books about Buddha and its reports in music and art, and claims that this had been the constant procedure of merging writing with art. Amrita Sen is Originally from India, a designer, singer, manufacturer and entrepreneur who lives in the United States. As a musician, she has tried to combine visual arts with music. As an entrepreneur, she produces original Indian-themed art in a successful line of fashion and home products. Amrita Sen combines the creation of original artistic content with extensive business experience to commercialize unique products at retail. Amrita is a Hollywood-Bollywood crossover producer in the marketplace and has India’s largest vertically integrated studio, Pooja Entertainment. She works as a US-based designer, singer and film producer of Indian-themed products and entertainment for global markets.

Finding Your Atom 6 With Dirk Collier: What Can We Learn From Kings, Empires and History?

Dirk Collier is an author, lecturer and expert in Asian and Indian culture. His passion for Asian culture and history was aroused as a result of his travels throughout the continent, predominantly in China and India. He shares his wealth of knowledge about what triggers kings, empires and societies at the latest episode of ‘Finding Your Atom’ podcast, co-hosted by Amrita Sen and Dinis Guarda.

A Belgian by birth, a lawyer by training, Dirk Collier has worked for Johnson & Johnson for a better part of his life. He has been obsessed with books all his life, having thousands of books in his possession. He was particularly fascinated by history, specifically the lives of villains.

“One aspect that fascinates and horrifies me is fanaticism. There is a French philosopher that once said that there’s nothing more dangerous than an idea, especially if you have only one. History abounds with examples of people who could’ve lived just perfectly ordinary valuable lives, but instead, they became monsters for some reason”, he explains that one ‘poisonous’ could be enough to turn ordinary life into a monstrous role in society.

It was this driving thought that led him to research such characters from history and unearth the wealth of wisdom and knowledge that reflects quite clearly through his writings.

Apart from books, he has also written articles for various journals and occasionally lectures at universities and cultural institutions. Professionally, he is a lawyer and a businessman and serves on the board of several organisations.

The attraction towards the ‘Asian Philosophy’ of thought

Asked by Amrita Sen about what Dirk learned from the Asian culture, Dirk mentioned that after years of research through historical texts and literature, he’s developed a strong inclination to explore and express his collection of ideas and thoughts on Asian culture and philosophy.

“The more I read about the Asian history and philosophy, the more fascinated I got. Indian philosophy, if you read about it, basically has no creed that you actually have to believe in. Indian philosophy is about how to become a better, more mature person so that in the end you will be more freed and reunite yourself”, he shares his wisdom from years of learning and research.

Dirk’s extensive research on The Mughal Empire in India

Collier’s impressive description of the grandeur of the Mughal empire depicts that the empire had a deep impact on Indian philosophy. Exploring the rise of a grand Mughal Empire under the reigns of Akbar, the Great, Dirk explains the dynamics that the empire experienced in India.

He denies the prevalent notion of European richness at the same time and emphasises the wealth and prosperity of the Indian subcontinent.

Throwing light on Akbar’s personality, Dirk says, “He was so tolerant because he was such an imperialist, and he understood much more than his successors did that it was actually by creating a united India, he could make it powerful. As long as he was there as an invading foreigner, suppressing the local people he was not going to make it”.

Dirk explains that Akbar’s reforms, taxation systems, and revolutionary decisions, despite the internal opposition, were commendable. Further, his non-discriminating policy for all his subjects was one of his powers to create a strong and cohesive kingdom. This has laid down the foundation of the modern-day country, “Although the idea of united India has never died in itself, it’s been realised only in a patchy way”.

The ideology of ‘democracy’

Dirk believes in freedom of expression and thought. He is a believer in exploring beyond the boundaries of specific rule books and delves into the importance of a practical approach to life.

“Pragmatism, as such, is a more difficult choice, but in the end, it leads to more honest kinds of thought. And that is also probably the appeal of true democracy that it invites people to disagree and honest people can actually find some truth in the ideology of others but as soon as you say ‘okay, I’m a socialist and this guy is liberal’, so, therefore, your mind is closed. Minds, as compared to parachutes, work better on the rope”.

Dirk also took a dive to analyse the current threatening situation prevailing in the world today.  He commented, “If we are to construct the democracies of the 21st century, truthfulness, reliability of information is paramount. Because only then the population is able to make up its own mind or actually find what the better issues are”. He emphasised the need for the ‘balance of power for a prosperous and happier world.

The episode has more powerful insights on finding one’s self-purpose. He also explains the traits and characteristics of a flourishing country and how a leader can help achieve the country or kingdom to its glorious heights.

Concluding an intriguing episode with deep knowledge and wisdom, Dirk explains the importance of embracing diversity. He fondly says, “Our world is a beautiful place and that is precise because it has been created by so many completely different individuals. It’s what makes us, we would never ever, no one life would ever come to the civilization that we currently have. We stand on the shoulders of the great diversity of people. And it’s our path to inherit what they’ve done for us and give something back to the generations that come after us. That’s the human condition”.

Amrita Sen And Dinis Guarda Create Mindfulness And Rediscover Self At “Finding Your Atom” Podcast

Amrita and Dinis, who had already created their own podcast space with “Music For”, together embarked on the journey of meditation and wellbeing with music. With their new podcast, they benchmark the principles and practices that are congruently responsible for making the world a healthier and happier place to thrive for our generations.

Being a reservoir of knowledge and deep thoughts, Amrita has had her share of experiences through an unruly path of turmoil. It is her firm belief that identifying yourself at the most basic of levels is half the battle won.

“Let’s shrink down. What are you good at, at the most atomic of levels? Once we think about that, it becomes very clear every person has a thing. There are about 7 billion people in the world. It seems less likely that even five of them are identical. It’s impossible. There are billions and billions of stars in the universe, they have their own unique formation identifiers. Then, why is it so hard to believe that every soul in the world, including mine or my mom’s (who is in heaven now), has a unique identifier? I want to challenge everybody: what is your atomic level identifier? What is really the essence where you have something to say? What is it that only you can say? We will have to shrink it to that level”, Amrita explains excitedly.

At the premiering episode of the podcast, Steven Husak, a successful entrepreneur, reveals his journey of exploration of his own ‘Atom’. He gradually unveils the challenges he faced in his business, evolving his strategies over time based on various parameters. He also shares his experiences during the journey and the ways in which he has embraced the digital frameshift in the entire industry.

“Neil Armstrong had some fears when he stepped on the moon, and we are not anything even close to that. That’s it, don’t be afraid to take chances, go with it. Even if nobody trusts you, go with your dream”, he reassuringly reveals in the end.

Dinis Guarda, co-host of the podcast shares, “Looking at the layers of the society, understanding the concept of finding one’s atom is extremely fundamental in comprehending the pace and direction of life, providing it with enough impetus and consequently projecting in the most relevant direction. This is what mindfulness is. This is what the practice of self-awareness and reflection is, as guided by the most pious meditation and yoga practices since centuries. For me, creativity and the love of my dear ones are ‘My Atom’. It drives me to accept and embrace challenges in various ways, and keeps me motivated enough to find ways through every situation”.

Today’s guest is Beverly Hills’ leading fashion designers for Hollywood A-list celebrities and the global social elite Mark Zunino. The three of them go on a journey to discover what drives Mark’s career: his passion for everything he does.

The two come together again, after the success of their previous podcast series “Music For” with another concept of recognising unique identifiers, and motivating the audiences with an increased mindfulness and self-awareness. The podcast is available on Dinis Guarda YouTube channel, and major podcast directories.

The presenters of the podcast are adept with the knowledge of meditation fundamentals, and consequently emphasise on negating the cacophony of the thoughts in our lives, focussing our energies on the relevant one. About Mark Zunino

Celebrated Los Angeles based designer Mark Zunino has come to define “Red Carpet Style” over the last decade. Initially an advertising major at California’s prestigious Pepperdine University, a chance interview with legendary film and television designer Nolan Miller led to an apprenticeship in 1985 and, ultimately, a full-fledged career in fashion design now spanning over 30 years.

Learning the art of the couture business from European trained pattern makers and tailors, Mark was able to refine his skills and eventually launch his own label in 1998. The experience he received from designing for such Hollywood legends as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren allowed him to retain the values of old Hollywood glamour in his designs and reinterpret them for some of today’s hottest celebrities. Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courtney Cox and Brooke Burke are just some of the world’s most beautiful women that have recently worn the Mark Zunino label. From the personally hand-drawn sketches to choosing the finest fabrics from around the world, a Mark Zunino gown is always the epitome of female elegance, glamour and individuality. Appointments in his private salon are hard to come by, as each design is custom made from start to finish with no detail left unnoticed.

In 2011 Mark launched his ready-to-wear line on QVC called “The Mark Of Style,” as well as his first bridal collection with New York’s Kleinfeld Bridal. With shapewear, handbags and fragrances on the horizon, Mark Zunino plans on making his vision of glamour available to every woman seeking to express their inner beauty. Mark’s goal is, and has always been, to make every woman feel as though she were walking the red carpet every day of their lives.

Amrita Sen and Dinis Guarda create mindfulness and rediscover self at “Finding Your Atom”, the new podcast series.

• The podcast was conceived by the creators of “Music For” YouTube series to create a sphere for self-reflection, and understanding yourself at the most basic of levels. Amrita and Dinis commit to take you through the journey of various special guests, and learn how they realised their ‘Personal atomic Identifier’.

• Episode one is now live on YouTube and selected podcast directories with Special Guest Steven Husak.

“Finding Your Atom” is the fresh podcast series by Amrita Sen, artist, designer, and producer, and Dinis Guarda, author, and founder of citiesabc and openbusinesscouncil. The two come together again, after the success of their previous podcast series “Music For” with another concept of recognising unique identifiers and motivating the audiences with increased mindfulness and self-awareness. The podcast is available on Dinis Guarda YouTube channel and major podcast directories.

The presenters of the podcast are adept with the knowledge of meditation fundamentals and consequently emphasise negating the cacophony of the thoughts in our lives, focussing our energies on the relevant one. Thus, “Finding Your Atom” could be a unique opportunity to glue yourself with your own personality.

Amrita, who already created her podcast space with “Music For”, aesthetically embarked on the journey of meditation and wellbeing with music. With her new podcast, she benchmarks the principles and practices she herself has been implementing for many years.

What is really the essence where you have something to say. What is it that only you can say? We will have to shrink it to that level”, Amrita explains excitedly.

In its first episode, Steven Husak, (intro of the personality) reveals his journey of exploration of his own ‘Atom’. He gradually unveils the challenges he faced in his business career, evolving his business strategies over time based on various parameters. He also shares his experiences during the journey, and the ways he has embraced the digital frameshift in the entire industry.

“Neil Armstrong had some fears when he stepped on the moon, and we are not anything even close to that. That’s it, don’t be afraid to take chances, go with it. Even if nobody trusts you, go with your dream”, he reassuringly reveals in the end.

Dinis Guarda, co-host of the podcast shares, “Looking at the layers of the society, understanding the concept of finding one’s atom is extremely fundamental in comprehending the pace and direction of life, providing it enough impetus and consequently projecting in the most relevant direction. This is what mindfulness is. This is what the practice of self-awareness and reflection is, as guided by the most pious meditation and yoga practices since centuries. For me, creativity and the love of my dear ones is ‘My Atom’. It drives me to accept and embrace challenges in various ways, and keeps me motivated enough to find ways through every situation”.
